Cockpit "Drying" Line.

Taz Coffey kept Shangri'-La in the SE USA.  If you examine her closely you will see lots of slick ideas onboard.  For instance, the bungee cord across the cockpit is used to keep the sliding hatch closed AND to hang lines on so they dry without leaving a stain on the side of the cabin.  That is a very clean hull.

This may be a good technique in the SE USA but in Western Canada where I sail the line may just serve a better purpose; keeping the Ospreys from eating their prey (sea gulls) in the cockpit.  An Osprey will land on the boat with a wriggling bird in its claws so no other bird can take it.  What a bloody mess that meal makes after the remains are baked in the sun.  I also like his winch covers and the jib tracks attached to the side of the cabin.  Great for keeping the deck clear.

Taz has since sold Shangri'-La, moving on to lighter, faster sail boats.  Too bad.  I miss his skill set.
